VVO Conference Room: Modern with Moderation

Boltenstern at Schwarzenbergplatz

The work of Erich Boltenstern, the renowned Viennese architect (1896 – 1991), is currently experiencing a new wave of popularity. The architect of "Adjusted Modernism" put his stamp on Vienna's cityscape. In addition to well-known buildings such as the Wiener Ringturm or the restaurant on Kahlenberg Mountain, Boltenstern was also responsible for refurbishing the VVO conference room at Schwarzenbergplatz.

By giving the hall a new design in 1954, Boltenstern once again succeeded in showcasing his style of architecture, which in those days was considered to be very modern but moderate at the same time. Clear, structured forms and a functional design are characteristic of his entire œuvre. These principles of "Adjusted Modernism" were epitomized in the VVO conference room.

The room was given a facelift in 2005. It was equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and the original furniture by Erich Boltenstern was restored. The overall "adjusted modern" ambience of the room was successfully preserved.
