Travel Insurance

In this era of globalization and internationalization, people are travelling longer, further and more regularly than ever before.

Commensurate with this growth in travel, the risk of, for example, the loss of luggage or accidents abroad has also increased; and without adequate insurance cover, potential financial losses can be considerable. Before embarking on any journey, you are well advised to obtain information on such options as:

Luggage Insurance

Luggage insurance covers all costs that can accrue as a result of the loss, destruction or damage of insured items; only those instances in which luggage is damaged intentionally or through gross negligence are excluded from cover. In addition to your entire luggage, this cover also embraces technical devices, sports equipment and even jewelry; moreover, luggage insurance also covers the cost of obtaining new documents.

Attention: Insured items will only be replaced to their actual value - the so-called current value!

Travel Health Insurance

Travel health insurance protects against the financial consequences of an acute illness or accident. Such a policy is therefore highly recommended, especially when traveling abroad. After all, statutory social security only covers limited costs incurred in countries with which a bilateral agreement exists, thus patients must cover all the costs themselves if they fall ill in countries with which there is no such agreement. Although the respective amounts can, of course, be claimed under your Austrian social security, their disbursement will only be based on standard Austrian rates, which may result in considerable differences. Travel health insurance covers these differences.

Travel Protection Insurance

You have booked a trip, but suddenly you fall ill! What should you do? Sufficient travel protection insurance, safeguards you against any such loss. One can choose from among a range of policies that provide cover against cancellation, a change of booking, or the discontinuance of a journey.

The insurer shall cover the cost of a booked travel arrangement in the event of:

  • illness – upon presentation of a medical certificate
  • death, accident or the serious illness of a relative
  • dismissal by an employer
  • an official travel warning
  • being drafted for military or civilian service.

Attention: Your insurance will reimburse costs only if the reason that prevented you from traveling was unforeseeable and occurred after making the booking!

Cancellation Insurance

As a matter of principle, travel cancellation insurance is always recommended, especially if you are booking early. If you have to cancel your trip, the policy will reimburse money that you may owe a travel agency.

Curtailment Insurance

If you have to discontinue your trip, this insurance policy will cover the costs of curtailment and returning home.

Change-of-booking insurance

This insurance affords yet another type of protection. If you have to reschedule your journey or holiday, it covers re-booking costs of up to 10% of the original outlay. At the same time any unused travel documents must be presented to the insurance company.
