Record figures: Almost 63.5% of drivers are in the best bonus category
Record figures: almost 63.5% of drivers are currently classified at the top levels 00 and 01 and are only paying half the insurance premium.
Exactly 63.46% of the cars and estate cars on the roads are now at the top levels 00 and 01 and their drivers are paying less than 50% of the insurance premium. In 2002, these figures stood at 61.93% (2001: 60.25%).
The trend towards declining accident figures which started three years ago has not continued. Nevertheless, the number of drivers in bonus categories at the top levels has risen slightly. These "model drivers" were evidently not affected by the negative accident pattern.
The distribution has changed most in the levels 00 to 09. 87.62% were classified at levels 00 to 07, while the figures for 2002 still showed 89.18%. 10.71% of drivers are classified at the "basic levels" 08 and 09 and pay the standard premium, while the figures for 2002 stood at 9.03%.
A small percentage (0.06%) of drivers only is currently still classified at the highest levels 16 and 17 due to their bad track record.
